Public Health



Waipa District Council has a statutory responsibility to promote, protect and improve public health. Council has powers to investigate and resolve any conditions that are likely to be offensive or injurious to health, and has Environmental Health Officers based in both Te Awamutu and Cambridge.

Council routinely deals with issues such as water quality, food quality, waste disposal, housing and vermin. Environmental Health Officers are also responsible for investigating cases of notified food and waterborne illness such as cryptosporidium, salmonella or campylobacter.
