Rubbish and Recycling
RECYCLE 4 WAIPA
Waipa District Council provides a kerbside recycling service which is paid for through district rates. This service is available to dwelling rated properties.
A blue recycling bin has been provided to all eligible households in the district and replacement /new bins can be purchased from Council’s offices.
Businesses need to arrange recycling collections with commercial collectors.
Recycling should be placed out for collection by 7.00am. Following a public holiday, the collection will run one day later.
Urban recycling is collected weekly in Cambridge, Te Awamutu, Kihikihi, Pirongia, Ohaupo, Ngahinapouri, Rukuhia and Karapiro. Rural recycling is collected fortnightly.

RUBBISH COLLECTION
Rubbish collection is not paid for by ratepayers, and Council does not operate the district's rubbish collection services. Council encourages residents to choose a preferred service provider that meets their specific requirements. Some of the district’s waste collection providers are listed below. Please note this is not a complete list, and there maybe other providers in the district.
EnviroWaste
EnviroWaste collects kerbside rubbish on specified days, providing it is in the approved yellow pre-paid bags which can be purchased at supermarkets and other grocery retailers. EnviroWaste also offers a wheelie bin contract service.

Red Bins
The Red Bin Company caters for the residential, rural, small business and contract building market.

Waste Management
Waste Management offers a wheelie bin service to Te Awamutu, Kihikihi and Pirongia residents

Cambridge Hire Bins

TRANSFER STATIONS
There are three transfer stations in the District where all forms of rubbish can be disposed off. They also have facilities for recyclables. The stations are located at:

eDay is a simple, free and effective way to dispose of your computer waste and old mobile phones in an environmentally sustainable way.

WASTE COLLECTORS AND WASTE MANAGEMENT LICENCE
The Waipa District Refuse Collection and Disposal Bylaw 2007 requires any person or organisation involved in the collection and/or disposal of any refuse or recyclables (including greenwaste but excludes trade waste and hazardous waste) within the District of more than 30 tonnes per annum to be licensed. The licence is for a maximum period of 1 year, with each licence due on 1 December.
