Mid term negotiations between Waipa District Council and Te Awamutu Events Centre management company H20 have concluded, and the result is a second five year deal, with a budget increase of $220,000 per annum.
The initial 10 year contract with H20, signed in 2002, allowed for a review to be held at the five year point. This has been the first opportunity to address a number of cost issues relating to inflation and operational requirements, including new national pool standards.
The pool was closed for two weeks in May to carry out essential maintenance of plant and equipment, and Council’s Chief Executive, John Inglis, said the repair and upgrading of plant was essential to improve levels of operation, and ensure the facilities were of a high standard.
“The second term of the contract has seen an increase in costs of $220,000 per annum. Council is committed to ensuring value for money and these negotiations have reflected inflation and the cost of maintaining a higher standard of facilities. We are pleased with the outcome, and the stability that this continuity of service provides”.
The new terms and agreement come into effect on November 1, 2007.
