One hundred and forty community groups ranging from the Scouts to the La Leche League will receive financial help from the Waipa District Council Community Board Discretionary Fund.
The Te Awamutu Community Board has allocated $30,743 and the Pirongia Consultative Committee has allocated $16,500 to assist non-profit community groups with operating expenses and activities that enable them to carry out their day-to-day business.
There were 55 applications from groups in the Te Awamutu and Kakepuku Wards – four more than last year. In total $118,911 was sought.
There were 25 applications from groups in the Pirongia Ward – four more than last year. In total $47,416 was sought.
