Construction underway on Cambridge Rd roundabout

A joint project between Rivergardens, Cambridge Park and Waipa District Council to upgrade and improve the roundabout at Cambridge Road is underway.

The work is expected to take approximately 10 weeks, and will include a new roundabout island, new splitter islands, new footpath and grass berm, new carriageway, relocation of power poles and some drainage improvement.  There will be some delays associated with the work.

Council are also in the process of reviewing the speed zones.

Council Engineering Manager, John Kerr, says the project will be a “gateway” to Leamington and Cambridge for traffic approaching from the west.

“We are pleased to be working with the subdivision developers to provide improved road safety to this important entrance to Cambridge.”
