Further to the information that was published in last week’s Courier, Council is now calling for comments and feedback to assist in the preparation of the draft design concept.
The planned development covers the next 10 years, and in this initial stage, the steering group of Cr Michael Cox, (chair) Cr Hazel Barnes, Cr Graham Jull, Cr Laurie Hoverd, Cr George Simmons, and Community Board Chair Dean Taylor, are overseeing the progression of the draft design concept and would like to know:
• what people would like to see reflected in the town centre;
• what people see as the priorities;
• what issues the Council needs to have regard to in preparing the design concept
Mr Cox would again like to encourage Te Awamutu residents to write down their thoughts and send them in.
“We look forward to receiving a range of ideas and suggestions for this very important project. I encourage all residents to put forward their thoughts on what they like in the town centre, what they do not like, and what are the most important issues to be looked at.”
A submission form is available on Council’s website, www.waipadc.govt.nz or in hard copy at both Council offices and libraries. Completed forms may be dropped off to Council receptions, free posted to Private Bag 2402, Te Awamutu 3840 or emailed to heartofteawamutu@waipadc.govt.nz
Submissions are being sought through to the end of February, with all comments being considered by the steering group and, where appropriate, will be reflected in the draft design concept. People wishing to present their ideas/thoughts to the steering group in person, can do so on February 29.
Once the draft design concept has been finalised, it will be made available to the public for formal comment in March/April. The design concept and associated work programme will be confirmed by Council in June.
