Council is now accepting submissions on the draft Kihikihi Recreation Reserve Strategic Plan and Reserve Management Plan.
The Domain is administered by Council, and is widely recognised as a superb venue for equestrian activities and other events such as speedway, rugby, cricket and tennis.
Project Manager Tony Roxburgh says the new Plans recognise the enormous contribution made by adjoining landowners, sporting groups and local residents and will lay foundations to ensure Kihikihi Domain continues to provide residents and visitors with a variety of recreational opportunities and experiences.
“Initial feedback we received back in December stated Kihikihi Domain is appreciated as a special facility. Some facilities require attention and upgrading to cater for increasing use, signage could be improved and strategic landscaping would be appreciated, but all in all most users were positive about the future potential of the site.
It is well positioned to attract activities that require large open spaces and it already has a well established reputation as a premier international equestrian venue. We’d appreciate your comments and suggestion on the draft plan”.
Copies of the draft Plans are available from either Council office or library or online at www.waipadc.govt.nz
Submissions close June 26.
