The Leamington Village and Shakespeare St upgrade works will commence on January 12, 2009, with the contract awarded to Cambridge-based contractor Civil Construction Services.
The main focus will be road reconstruction from Hunt Grove to 60 metres north of Raleigh Street, and an upgrade of the main shopping centre which will include new paved footpaths, street furniture, lighting and planting. Power lines will also be relocated underground throughout this area.
While the contractor will ensure disruption is as minimal as possible, Council would like to thank the public for their support and patience if traffic delays or minor inconvenience for pedestrians occurs. Access to shops will be maintained throughout.
The works are programmed to finish in August.
