Waipa District Libraries’ summer reading programme has again proved a great success, with 140 children taking part.
The programme, for 5-12 year olds, sees the children visit the library at least three times to check in with a library staff member and talk about the books they have been reading.
Library Manager Alison Gordon says the programme is so popular that there is a waiting list, and it is a highlight for library staff.
“We love seeing the children and their families spending time reading together as they take part in the programme. The ‘Superheroes Read’ theme was really well received”.
This years programme will finish with a grand finale party for children and their families on Thursday January 29, 10.00am at the Waipa District Council building, Bank St. The children will be presented with a certificate, medal and book prize, and refreshments and entertainment by storyteller Kay Mills will be provided.
