Library increases hours and internet for rowing champs

21 October 2010

Cambridge Public Library is gearing up to help competitors and supporters stay connected by extending its opening hours and installing six additional internet terminals during the week of the world rowing championships.

District librarian Alison Gordon said the library’s internet facilities are already “extremely popular” with local residents. She said the rowing event was a great opportunity to provide additional internet services for visitors to town.

The six additional terminals bring the library’s total number of internet terminals to 12.

“Having 12 terminals will make the library the largest drop-in internet kiosk in Cambridge for the week,” Mrs Gordon said.

The library is also extending its opening hours. From Monday, November 01 to Friday, November 05 it will be open from 9.00am - 8.00pm daily. On Saturday, November 6 it will be open from 9.30am - 1.00pm.

Wi-fi internet access will also be available for those people wanting to bring laptops and other internet devices to the library.

The library charges $2 per half hour to use its internet terminals. Wi-fi costs $5 which buys unlimited access for that day during library hours.
