Renown penny pincher Jackie Gower, author of The $21 Challenge, will share her money saving tips in Cambridge on August 17.

Gower will be at the Cambridge Library in late August as part of Library Week and  will share her financial hints along with valuable money saving tips under her pen name Penny Wise.

It will include advice on how to feed a family for a week on just $21.

Libraries in Cambridge and Te Awamutu will celebrate Library Week with activities, competitions and guest speakers from August 16-22.

Library week has been running for more than 35 years and is a week-long celebration of libraries and librarianship taking place in public, school, tertiary and special libraries across New Zealand.

On Thursday, August 19 the Te Awamutu Public Library is hosting an evening for aspiring writers with Kihikihi-based author Sharon Holt. Holt writes fiction, non-fiction, plays and poems for young children. She has had more than 25 books and educational readers published in Australia and New Zealand. Holt will share tips of the trade, and talk about how to get published.

Last year, Waipa district libraries had 239,329 people through their doors and issued 516,782 items. The libraries currently have 25,426 members.
