The Mayor and Councillors of Waipa District Council are pleased to announce the appointment of a new chief executive, following the resignation of John Inglis after 10 years in the role.
Garry Dyet, the current Deputy Chief Executive and Group Manager Environmental and Community Services, has been selected from a large number of high quality national and international candidates.
Waipa District Mayor Alan Livingston is very pleased with the appointment.
“Garry displayed the leadership qualities, initiative, strategic planning and overall ability to lead and progress our District. With that he provides an added benefit of having an extensive knowledge of Waipa and its challenges and opportunities.”
Mr Dyet joined Waipa County Council in 1980, and has held both environmental health and planning roles before being appointed Deputy Chief Executive and Group Manager of Environmental Services in 2002. He holds a Masters degree in Public Policy as well as other qualifications in town planning and environmental health, and is looking forward to taking up his new role.
“Waipa is a ‘Home of Champions’ with a wealth of physical and cultural assets. I’d like to see the Council as less bureaucratic and more engaged with its elected representatives and the community, and acknowledge all of the good work carried out by my predecessor John Inglis over the past 10 years.”
He takes up his new role on August 20.
