Construction of two of three new toilet blocks will shortly be underway as part of the multi million dollar upgrade of facilities at Karapiro Domain.
The two embankment toilet blocks, which date back to the 1960’s, have been demolished in readiness for the construction of the new blocks which will include water saving devices and electronic controls for the toilets and taps.
A third block will be constructed on the lower campground, below the campground amenities building, and will include shower facilities to service campers and competitors at the various events that occur over summer.
The new blocks will almost double the facilities available at present, and will be able to cater for an event of up to 10,000 competitors and spectators.
The embankment construction work is scheduled for completion by Christmas, and the lower campground work will be finished by the end of March 2009.
