Shakespeare St stormwater upgrade planned

As part of the Leamington CBD upgrade pre-works, the undersized stormwater main under Shakespeare Street, running from Campbell Street to Byron Street, is going to be upgraded.

The new main will reduce localised flooding to private and commercial properties, and will be in the same location, on the western side of Shakespeare Street and the northern side of Byron Street.

These essential works are expected to commence in mid-February, and will take approximately nine weeks to complete.

As the main is under the road, there will be times when access to properties will be temporarily restricted. Traffic control will be in place, and occasionally traffic will need to be diverted in order to undertake the works.  All steps will be taken by the contractor, HEB Smithbridge Ltd, to keep these disruptions to a minimum, but some delays should be expected in the Leamington CBD area from February until April 2008.

Water supply upgrades are already underway, primarily within the grass verge area.  These works are also expected to be completed by April.
