Costs to swim at the Trust Waikato Te Awamutu Event Centre are to rise slightly at the beginning of December.
On December 1, fees to use the Livingstone Aquatics pools and hydroslide will increase.
Entry to swim will rise by 50 cents for adults and children. Adults will pay $4 each (currently $3.50) and children will pay $2.50 each (currently $2). Once paid, there is no time limit on how long patrons can spend at the pool each day.
In comparison, the cost to swim at WaterWorld Te Rapa or the Gallagher Aquatic Centre In Hamilton is $5.50 for adults and $2.50 for children.
There will be no increase in any entry fees for seniors.
The fee increase will affect all activities at the pool from concession cards and group discounts to lane hire and club and school fees.
Hydroslide fees will rise by 10 cents for children and 20 cents for adults. Spectators will pay $1.10 – an increase of 10 cents.
The increases cover rising operational costs which until now have been absorbed by contract managers H20 Management and Waipa District Council. This is the first time the centre has increased prices since it opened nine years ago.
The centre is also introducing two new rules to improve swimmer safety in and around the pool. Children under five years of age will now have to be within arm’s reach of an adult while in the pools. Diving will also be restricted to the 1.8 metre section of the main pool only. Both new rules will be introduced in December.
