Town planning for Cambridge

20 April 2009

Waipa’s growth strategy and the review of the District Plan will be complemented by a Town Plan for Cambridge – a detailed blueprint to guide growth and development.

The Town Plan will look at residential development, including style and density, and how the town centre could look.

Project Manager Fiona Hill says Cambridge residents are encouraged to have input into the development of both the strategy and plan.

“It is important that what is great about Cambridge is retained, even as the town continues to grow.  Council is supporting the development of a Vision for Cambridge, that will guide future planning.  Assisting with this is a group of community representatives, this group has overseen the preparation of a draft Vision, and this is now available to review and provide feedback on”.

A workshop to discuss and provide feedback on the draft Vision will be held on April 30 at the Cambridge Town Hall, from 6pm – 8pm.   All are welcome to attend.

Copies of the draft Vision Statement are available at www.waipa2050.co.nz
