Waipa’s growth strategy and the review of the District Plan will be complemented by a Town Plan for Te Awamutu and Kihikihi – a detailed blueprint to guide growth and development.
The Town Plan will look at residential development, including style and density, and how the town centres could look.
Project Manager Fiona Hill says residents are encouraged to have input into the development of both the strategy and plan.
“It is important that what is great about both these areas is retained, even as they continue to grow. Council is supporting the development of a Vision for Te Awamutu and Kihikihi, that will guide future planning. Assisting with this is a group of community representatives who have guided the preparation of a draft Vision statement for Te Awamutu, and this will soon be available for residents to review and provide feedback on. Thoughts on a more detailed vision for Kihikihi will be discussed at the workshop”
A workshop to discuss and provide feedback on the draft Vision will be held on May 11 in the Council Chambers, 101 Bank St, from 6pm – 8pm. All are welcome to attend.
