Town planning workshop a great success

8 May 2009

Last week’s Cambridge Town Planning workshop provided some excellent information for the draft strategy.

Waipa 2050 project manager Fiona Hill says the attendance of 50 people to brainstorm a range of ideas about Cambridge into the future and give feedback on the Vision was a great result.

“Setting a Vision for Cambridge is the first step for the Cambridge Town Plan.  We asked the attendees questions like what do you like most and least, what do you think the town needs and where, and what they thought the barriers and challenges were to achieving these improvements, and the feedback we got gave us a strong steer.”
The development of a Vision for Cambridge has been assisted by the Cambridge Vision Advisory Group, whose members include Antanas Procutas, Matt Smith, Phil McCreery, Richard Wright, Rob Feisst, Ron Williams, Peter Tairi, Kevin Burgess, Alison Boone, David Pronger, Eris Parker, Peter Carr, Alan Livingston, Joe Scaramuzza, Errol Newlands, Barabara Taranaki, and Peter Lee.
If you were unable to attend the workshop, or would like to contribute your ideas, the questionnaire can be found at www.waipa2050.co.nz  along with the draft Vision Statement.  Informal feedback is being received until May 29, and will help shape the Cambridge Town Plan, which is scheduled to be completed by August.
