The 10-year Plan is Council’s major planning and decision-making document for the future of Waipa District. It describes what Council is going to do, when it is going to be done and how much it is going to cost.
All councils in New Zealand are required to produce a 10-year Plan and the Plan must then be reviewed every 3 years. These plans help identify how Council contributes to the outcomes the community wants to achieve and provide an opportunity for democratic, local decision-making.
From March 16 to April 17, the community had the opportunity to provide feedback, by way of submissions, on the draft 10-year Plan. Hearings and deliberations were then held from May 12 to 14, and as an outcome Council made decisions in regards to the six specific proposals that were consulted on and on issues and questions raised through the submissions process. Following a review by Audit NZ and the Office of the Auditor General, Council adopted the 10-year Plan on June 30.
