Mighty River Domain, Lake Karapiro
The Mighty River Domain, Lake Karapiro is 19 hectares in size and is located between Maungatautari Road and the western shore of Lake Karapiro, approximately 10 km southeast of Cambridge. The Domain is a regional, national, and international focal point for a wide range of water-based sports undertaken on the adjacent Lake Karapiro including rowing, yachting, power boating, water skiing and waka ama. In addition to being a significant recreational facility for residents of the Waipa District and beyond, the Domain is of historic and cultural significance to tangata whenua. The Waipa District Council is responsible for the management of the Mighty River Domain under the provisions of the Reserves Act 1977.
