Costs to swim at the Trust Waikato Te Awamutu Event Centre are to rise slightly at the beginning of December.
On December 1, entry fees to the Livingstone Aquatics pools will increase by .50 cents for adults and children. Adults will pay $4 each (currently $3.50) and children will pay $2.50 each (currently $2). Once paid, there is no time limit on how long patrons can spend at the pool each day.
In comparison, the cost to swim at WaterWorld Te Rapa or the Gallagher Aquatic Centre In Hamilton is $5.50 for adults and $2.50 for children.
The increase covers rising operational costs which until now have been absorbed by the contract managers H20 and Waipa District Council. This is the first increase since the pool opened nine years ago.
The Centre is also introducing two new rules to improve swimmer safety in and around the pool. Children under five years of age will now have to be within arm’s reach of an adult while in the pools.
Diving will also be restricted to the 1.8 metre section of the main pool only. Both new rules will be introduced in December.
