- 12 Dec 2009 | Cambridge Repertory Society presents: "The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society’s Production of Macbeth". A comedy by David McGillivray and Walter Zerlin, Jr. Directed by Dave Stearns. Throw all thought of serious Shakespeare from your minds. The Farndale Ladies are entering their unique (to say the least) version of Macbeth in a drama competition, with innovative sound, lighting and special effects. The show revolves around the evening their performance is judged, to see whether they will progress to the national finals. Undaunted by the absence of men in their group, the 7 ladies gamely take on a production involving 21, mostly male, roles. The cast and crew bravely soldier on as one mishap follows another. The result is an hilarious piece of entertainment, suitable for a general audience.
Gala nights are opening night 28th November and closing night Saturday 12th December, with Scottish dancing in the interval and a piper greeting upon arrival (to be confirmed). The audience is encouraged to wear Scottish dress for a fully immersive experience.
