19 Sep 2010		Variety Mini Bash Charity Challenge - Te Awamutu
This year’s event will see a convoy of around 25 crazy Bash vehicles and support cars travel from Papakura to Te Awamutu via Port Waikato, Raglan and Waitomo. Teams of up to seven will compete against each other on a special McDonald’s inflatable soccer pitch, in rippa rugby and touch rugby in the fun Variety Mini Bash Community Challenge. Teams should arrive at the Te Awamutu Sports Club from 10am to register and the tournament will kick off at 10.30am. Variety Mini Bash teams will arrive in time for the finals at 11.30am, after helping with a community project at Te Awamutu Plunket. Spectators are encouraged to come along and see the Variety cars, fire engines and other quirky vehicles.

Gaslight Theatre, Alpha Street, Cambridge presented by Cambridge Repertory Society Inc.
“Dumb Waiter” by Harold Pinter. Two hitmen, Ben and Gus are waiting in a basement room for their assignment. Ben is the senior member of the team and Gus is the junior. In the back of the room is adumbwaiter, which delivers occasional food orders. This is mysterious, and both characters seem to be puzzled as to why these orders keep coming.

“Last Panto in Little Grimley” picks up from where “Tango” left off last year, as the same characters endeavour to ride on the coat tails of their previous success by putting on a “panto”. The lack of organisation, talent and barren pool of fresh ideas is certainly no hindrance to these thespians, who resort to desperate measures.
