Waipa District Council’s new Chief Executive Garry Dyet is now reviewing the operational management structure. The review, in which all staff are fully involved, is guided by several key objectives:
• More effective community partnerships and community-focused decision making
• Clear leadership, focusing on accountability
• Improving the quality of services and operating with an increased commercial focus
• Increased efficiency, including minimising the use of consultants
In announcing the review Mr Dyet indicated that the environment in which local government operates is changing, and it is essential that the organisation is well positioned to respond.
“In securing the role of Chief Executive I outlined my intentions for taking the organisation forward, and the Mayor and Councillors agreed. This review is about positioning the organisation for the future, and ensuring we deliver the best possible value and quality of services to our community and customers”.
At each stage of the review process all staff will have the opportunity to comment and Mr Dyet fully expects that the final structure will reflect many of those views.
The final operational management structure is expected to be confirmed by early December, with any changes likely to take effect in February 2010.
