There will be no change to the Waipa district kerbside recycling collection following Christmas and New Year public holidays.
Waipa District Council’s manager road corridor Dawn Inglis said recycling days are usually one day later during public holidays. This year was different because the Christmas and New Year public holidays both fall on weekend days, she said.
“It makes it easy for residents because it’s ‘business as usual’ – there’s no need to remember a different recycling day.”
Mrs Inglis said this would not be the case for all future public holidays.
Kerbside cycling in the Waipa district is provided by Smart Environmental under contract to the council. Recycling bins must be at the kerbside by 7am on collection days to be emptied. There is a limit of one bin per household and boxes should be flattened unless they are full of paper.
