District Growth Strategy review
By 2050, we're expecting an additional 25,000 people in Waipa, bringing our population to nearly 75,000. That's 14,000 more people for Cambridge, 5,400 in Te Awamutu and Kihikihi and more than 6,000 additional residents spread around the rest of the district.
In May 2017 we consulted with the community about making changes to our 2009 District Growth Strategy to cater for this rapid growth.
We developed a website, held community open days and produced a hardcopy booklet to show what this growth could mean for different parts of our district.
View the 'What's the story on growth?' booklet to see what changes were proposed to your area. Following feedback from the community the final Growth Strategy document was adopted.
