​Waipa District Council's 2018/19 District Promotion Fund is now open​​​​ 

Waipa District Council's 2018/19 District Promotion Fund is now open for applications.

The fund aims to help event organisers deliver champion events in the Waipā​ district. To find out if your event is eligible apply, keep reading below and make sure you download, complete and return the District Promotion Fund Application Pack before 5pm Friday 25 May.

In order to be eligible to apply, your event must:

  • Have, at least, a substantial portion of the event be based in the Waipā district
  • Occur between 1 July 2018 and 30 June 2019
  • Have its application form entirely completed and all relevant supporting material included by the closing date

In order to meet the fund's purpose and criteria, your event must:

  • Show that the event has the ability to promote Waipā​ as an attractive place to live, work, invest in or visit
  • Offer economic benefit to the district through expanding the Waipā economy, growing visitor nights and increasing international and domestic exposure
  • Offer Waipa District Council the opportunity to benefit from the event through promotion using Waipa Home of Champions brand
  • Offer unique opportunities for local, national or international involvement
  • Not be funded from more than one of Council's funding programmes

Holding an event in Waipā?

All event organisers intending to hold an event in the Waipā district also need to complete an event application form, whether or not they are successful in receiving a grant, or apply for a grant. This application form is included in the District Promotion Fund Application Pack.

Head along to Waipa's only district-wide events calendar whatsonwaipa.co.nz and promote your event for free! The site offers promotion, venue ideas, and tips and tricks for a successful event.

All you need to do is sign up, list your event details, add a photo and it's good to go! So, what's on Waipā?

2017/18 District Promotion Fund grant recipients

Waipa District Council's District Promotion Fund committee sifted through 51 applications to allocate $94,500 for Waipā-baseevents over the coming year. More than $230,000 in support was requested from the $100,000 available from the fund on an annual basis. The committee held over $5,500 for a small number of funding requests that may come in during the year.

The fund aims to promote Waipā​ as an attractive place to visit, live, work and invest in. It also supports events that promote and benefit the wellbeing of the district and its people.

Grant recipients are expected to complete a post event report within three months of their event. This is a requirement before future funding will be considered.
