Karapiro Lake Weed Spray
Spraying was successfully completed today Thursday 18th February using diquat in gel form in the following navigational safety zones.
- Lake Karapiro/Mercury Domain
- Navigation Safety Zone 3
- Navigation Safety Zone 4
- Navigation Safety Zone 5
- Navigation Safety Zone 6
- Navigation Safety Zone 7
- Navigation Safety Zone 9*
- Navigation Safety Zone 12*
We recommend a 24 hour stand-down on swimming, fishing and taking water for irrigation or domestic supply once the spraying is complete (* these zones were only partially completed and control will continue tomorrow).
Tomorrow Friday 19th February we will be undertaking work in the following navigational safety zones.

- Navigation Safety Zone 9
- Navigation Safety Zone 10
- Navigation Safety Zone 11
- Navigation Safety Zone 12
Diquat in gel form will be applied via boat and helicopter boom to treat aquatic weeds. This work is dependent on suitable weed, water and weatherconditions and therefore the timing is subject to change without notification.

Boat and helicopter based aquatic weed spraying is scheduled to be carried out on Lake Karapiro from:
- Monday, 15th February to 26th February 2021
We’ll be undertaking control in Navigation Safety Zones 1-12. Please see attached map for more detail around where control will be taking place.
The weather forecast next week is looking patchy so we’ll no doubt be operating over a few days to try and complete all the work in the available weather windows.
