Notification of intention to conduct aerial willow control at Lake Ngā Roto
Waipā District Council will conduct an aerial spraying programme at Lake Ngā Roto to control willows (Salix species).
An UAV (drone) will apply the agrichemicals triclopyr triethylamine (trade name Garlon 360*), Glyphosate 510** and Hasten*** by aerial spot spraying between 13 January and 12 February 2021 (weekdays only) over a period of 5-7 days within the hours of 7am and 5pm as weather permits.
During the drone operation the carpark and walkway will remain open.
Additionally, a helicopter will be undertaking control of a larger patch of willow between 25 January and 5 February (weather dependent). This specific operation will take place from about 5:30am and is expected to take about 1‐1.5 hours.
During this time the walkway and back carpark (sailing club end) will be closed and signage will be in place to notify of the works.
