Parallel Road Water Treatment Plant - commissioning
We're currently undertaking commissioning for the recently upgraded Parallel Road Water Treatment Plant and pipeline for the new Te Awamutu water supply.
As part of the commissioning process, we will be making adjustments and at times will need to flush the water network to improve the overall system.
This will take place throughout the coming months and may result in short periods of no or low water pressure. Affected residents will be notified via a letter prior to flushing so they have adequate time to prepare for their own water supply needs during the shutdown period.
Once the flush has taken place and water is reinstated, residents may notice the following changes to their water supply:
- Cloudy water - this is a result of excess air in the pipeline. This will rise to the surface and become clear with time and will disappear as the air works its way out of the network.
- Discolouration or sediment build up - this is a result of dislodging natural sediment built up in the pipes. We recommend you to run an outside tap into a bucket until water runs clear. You can use this water for external use.
