Important notice – upcoming watermain installation
Where: Te Awamutu
When: Monday, May 19 to Friday, May 23
Time: From 7am
We need to advise you of the need to store water ahead of work to replace the ageing concrete watermains in Te Awamutu.
GT Civil is drilling and installing new watermains between May 19 and May 23, which will sit beneath the existing pipes. The existing pipes will be capped and left in place once the new watermains have been commissioned.
Older concrete pipes can be fragile, and while we are taking every precaution, there is a small possibility that one or more could burst during the drilling and installation process.
While this is unlikely, should it occur it is possible that the water supply could be temporarily interrupted across much of the town. We want to reassure you that you will have water during the works and we have a response plan in place to address any issues quickly and restore service as soon as possible.
Water will remain on, though we strongly encourage all businesses to store enough water to meet your needs for up to eight hours.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to improve your water infrastructure. This project is a vital step in building a more resilient and efficient water network for the community.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the contract manager for this project, Mahendra Kumar. He can be contacted on 027 324 8338 or at Mahendra.kumar@waipadc.govt.nz.
