We are carrying out essential maintenance on the Kihikihi Water Supply Scheme bore. As part of this work, our contractors need to measure how much water is available in the new bore aquifer.
To do this, a generator and pumps will run continuously from 7.30am on Monday, July 28 to 4.30pm on Wednesday, July 30.
During this time, Church Street will be closed between Whitmore and Lyon Streets.
Once the night works are completed, the road will remain closed between 7.30am and 6pm on weekdays until Thursday, September 4, while we continue with further maintenance on site.
The footpath along Church Street will be closed during this time. Pedestrians will be detoured around the intersection of Whitmore and Lyon Streets.
There will be no vehicle access to the church and space centre via Church Street during the works. Access will be restored after hours, on weekends and public holidays.
This maintenance on the bore is done every five years to keep the pumps running and provide a health check of the pump and bore. Your water supply will not be affected during this work.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we undertake this routine maintenance.
