Make a payment

Ways to pay

You can pay for your property rates, water rates, dog registrations, resource and building consents, and all other outstanding debtor accounts at Council. Choose from the following options.

If you wish to make the move to digital, you can request to receive your invoices via email by filling out a Change of Address form online.

Cash, EFTPOS, and credit/debit cards can be used to make payments in any of our offices.

Please note that using a credit card will incur a convenience fee charged by the credit card and merchant service providers. The credit card surcharges for each for these cards are:

  • Visa: $1.46 per transaction
  • MasterCard: 2% per transaction

Opt for EasyPay, a direct debit system that means your rates payments and debtor accounts will automatically be deducted from your bank account.

The advantages include time saving, no hassle with postage, and no worries about being late and incurring penalty charges.

When setting up EasyPay, you can select weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly, or annually as the payment option.

To start paying your rates and debtor accounts by direct debit, you will need to:

  • Set up your direct debit online or
  • Download the Direct Debit EasyPay application form or
  • Collect the Direct Debit EasyPay form from any of our offices or
  • Phone 0800 924 723 to have a Direct Debit EasyPay form posted to you
  • Fill in the form (you will need your bank account number) and return it to one of our Waipā District Council offices.

You can make a payment using internet banking via Account2Account through our payment gateway.

Enter the relevant reference number and you'll be redirected to your bank’s login page to complete the transaction. All information in the particulars, reference and code fields will be pre-populated for your convenience.

Please make a separate bill payment for each invoice you're paying.

It's crucial that you use the correct information in the particulars, reference, and code fields as Council processes many different payments for a various of services.

What you need to know about online credit/debit card payments:

  • There is a surcharge of 2.2% on Visa, MasterCard and debit card per transaction.
  • We don’t retain any part of the surcharge fee. We will receive the initial fee as part of the total payment amount but then pay the entire fee to the merchant services provider.
  • If the payment is made using a credit/debit card issued outside of New Zealand, any currency conversion will be done according to the terms of conditions of card. There may be currency conversion fees charged by your card issuer.
  • Transactions are processed within two working days of the payment.
  • Please contact us regarding refunds for overpayments or incorrect payments.
  • If you wish to receive your invoices via email, you can fill out the  Change of Address form online.
