Recycling delays during Fieldays 2025

Fieldays is just around the corner – thanks for your patience!

Fieldays runs from Wednesday, June 11 to Saturday, June 14, and it’s always a busy time for our community. With more traffic and congestion expected, particularly along key roads, some recycling collections may be delayed.

Here's what you need to know

Who may be affected: Residents living along Route 7 may experience some collection disruptions due to heavier-than-usual traffic.

What we’re doing: If we’re unable to empty your yellow recycling bin on Thursday, June 12, don’t worry - we’ve scheduled an additional collection day on Wednesday, June 18 to ensure your recycling is picked up.

Roads likely to be affected include:

• Airport Road (State Highway 21), between Ōhaupō Road and Narrows Bridge
• Mystery Creek Road
• McEldownie Road
• Angus Road

What you can do if your bin isn’t collected:

• Leave your bin out for the rescheduled collection, or
• Bring it back in and place it out again the night before or morning of Wednesday, June 18
