Te Awamutu Cemetery works
To improve access to Te Awamutu Cemetery, work on a new entrance way off Te Rahu Road will begin on Monday, November 3, 2025. It is expected to take four weeks to complete.
From this date, the current entrance off Picquet Hill Road will be closed, and visitors will be redirected temporarily through the RSA service entrance 50m along the road. There will be traffic management on Te Rahu Road during the work.
The cemetery will remain open, and our contractors will liaise with funeral directors and our sextons to ensure work and noise are ceased or minimised during funeral services.
This project is part of Waipā District Council’s Cemetery concept plan, making sure our cemeteries across Waipā maximise Council’s existing space and remain fit for purpose for the next 20 years.
The upgrades were budgeted for in the 2025-34 Long Term Plan, which was consulted on with the community.
