Roading updates - Friday, February 20
Closed roads
𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐮𝐢𝐤𝐚 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞 - The road is currently inaccessible at the bridge. Resident access is available from either end. We're working on a solution to get access restored as soon as possible.
𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 - Work continues to clear water from the blocked drain, just slower while crews remove debris. A larger digger arrived on site today.
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐢 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 - Work on temporary access is progressing well.
𝐁𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞 - An initial assessment has been done, and the bridge is safe to use for resident access only, please. No substantial debris on the piers is visible, and once the water drops, a more detailed assessment will be done.
𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝟑𝟗 - SH39 remains closed between Te Tahi and Ngutunui Roads due to the Mangati Bridge damage. Installing a single-lane temporary bridge is currently being considered to reconnect locals while a permanent solution is built. Visit the NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi's website for updates on SH39.
