Roading updates - Saturday, February 21
Closed Roads
𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐮𝐢𝐤𝐚 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞 - The road is currently inaccessible at the bridge. Resident access is available from either end. We're making progress to get access restored across the bridge as soon as possible.
𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 - Work to clear remaining water from the blocked drain has slowed down due to debris and mud. A temporary farm track is in place for residents only. Evacuated residents are now able to return home.
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐢 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 - The road is still closed to the public. We are continuing to work with residents on access.
𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝟑𝟗 - SH39 remains closed between Te Tahi and Ngutunui Roads due to the Mangati Bridge damage. A long-term detour is in place via Te Awamutu. Follow the NZTA journey planner for updates.
Open Roads
𝐖𝐚𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐩𝐚 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 – The road has reopened in the Taupō district under limited access only. Though the road remains open in Waipā and Ōtorohanga, if you are travelling through it is recommended to use alternative routes.
𝐎’𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐚 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 – The road is open to light vehicles only.
𝐁𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞 - The bridge is open and safe for resident access only. A more detailed assessment is still to be done, once the water level drops.
