Performers, painters and poets of Waipā – it’s time to unleash your creativity! The 2024/25 round of
Creative Communities Scheme funding is open, and it’s ready to back your wildest community arts
and cultural dreams.
With a total of $31,750 up for grabs, this is your chance to bring your artistic brilliance to life,
whether that’s a dance project, a community mural, cultural theatre or simply hosting a storytelling
session.
The funding comes from Creative New Zealand and is distributed by councils.
The Misty Flicks Film Festival recently received support from the fund to host a youth filmmakers’
workshop in Te Awamutu. Thanks to the fund, the workshop saw children gets hands-on with
scriptwriting and work with industry professionals to create a short film.
Programme manager Pamela Kaval said it was heartwarming to see the children’s faces light up with
excitement when they watched their work play out on the big screen at the Regent Theatre with
their families and friends.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Creative Communities Fund for making this unforgettable
experience possible.”
Want in? To secure your share, all you need to do is to meet at least one of the scheme’s three
criteria: fostering access and participation, celebrating diversity, or sparking youth engagement in
the arts.
Individuals, groups and organisations can apply for grants, typically ranging from $500 and $5000.
The stage is set, the spotlight is yours – it’s now up to you to apply for the Creative Communities
Scheme before the curtain falls.
Applications will close on Monday, March 31.
Applications are assessed and funding is allocated by a
committee of representatives in the arts sector.
