No asbestos found at construction waste recycling facility
Testing has confirmed there was no asbestos deposited at the ResourceCo construction waste recycling facility on Cambridge Road.
The confirmation follows concerns raised last week about possible asbestos material being brought to the site. Initial caution was taken while testing was carried out, however results have since shown no asbestos was detected.
Group Manager Growth and Regulatory Services Wayne Allan said he understood there was concern in the community. “We want to reassure residents that there is no asbestos present, and we will continue to monitor the site closely.”
Allan said staff had also confirmed there was no evidence of any breaches of consent conditions at the facility at this time.
Staff were meeting with the operator again this afternoon to discuss concerns raised by the community, and a regular monitoring programme will be put in place to provide ongoing oversight, he said.
“Public safety is our top priority, and we are committed to working with the operator and the community to ensure this facility operates safely and within its consent conditions.”
