Track closures and safety update

Several tracks and reserves across the Waipā and Ōtorohanga districts are currently closed due to storm damage and safety risks. The public is asked not to access these areas until further notice.

Recent inspections have identified significant issues including slips, washouts, blocked culverts, flooding and unstable ground. In some locations, tracks are completely impassable and may pose a serious risk to public safety.

Closed tracks and reserves

• Pirongia Mountain Bike Park and Waipā District Council Forestry Block (Sainsbury Road)
• 205 Sainsbury Road Reserve
• Kakepuku Mountain Track
• Pirongia Esplanade Track
• Mātakitaki Pā (lower platform is closed
• Kāniwhaniwha Reserve (off Limeworks Loop Road)
