Council updates three committees to reflect new ways of working
Three of Waipā District Council’s committees will have a new name and a refined purpose from Tuesday, September 1, to match its new organisational structure.
What’s new?
- The Strategic Planning and Policy Committee will become the Growth, Strategy and Planning Committee.
- The Finance and Corporate Committee will become the Finance and Organisational Performance Committee.
- The Service Delivery Committee will become the Community Delivery Committee.
Mayor Mike Pettit made the changes following internal changes made through council's Future Us initiative in July, along with the transfer of the district's water and wastewater services to Waikato Waters Limited and ongoing reform of the Resource Management Act.
"These name changes reflect where our organisation is at now, not a change in direction. Our structure needs to keep pace with our decisions, and a lean, well organised council is better placed to deliver for our community,” he said.
“These changes make sure our committees are set up to do exactly that going forward."
Chairs and deputy chairs of the three committees remain unchanged. Council has confirmed that existing delegations to the committees continue under their new names and purpose.
