Nominations open for Cambridge Community Board Awards

The Cambridge Community Board is encouraging residents to help recognise the people who make a positive difference in the community, with nominations now open for the Cambridge Community Board Awards.

The awards recognise exceptional individuals who have made a significant contribution to the Cambridge and Maungatautari communities through service, leadership, volunteerism, advocacy, mentorship or community spirit.

Cambridge Community Board Chair Charlotte FitzPatrick said the awards provide an opportunity to acknowledge the many people whose contributions often happen quietly behind the scenes.

"Every day, people throughout our community give their time, energy and expertise to support others, strengthen local connections and help Cambridge thrive," she says.

"Many of these contributions go unrecognised, so these awards are an opportunity to celebrate the individuals who help make our community such a special place to live."

The Board is inviting nominations from residents, community organisations, schools, businesses, sports clubs and volunteer groups.

Examples of contributions may include long-term volunteer service, community leadership, environmental stewardship, youth development, arts and cultural activities, sports leadership, fundraising, charitable work, or other activities that positively impact the wellbeing of the community.

"Whether it's someone who has dedicated years to volunteering, a mentor supporting young people, a community advocate, or simply someone whose actions have had a lasting impact on others, we want to hear their story," FitzPatrick says.

Nominees must live, work, volunteer or make a significant contribution within the Cambridge or Maungatautari ward communities and demonstrate a positive impact on community wellbeing, connectedness or vibrancy.

Nominations will be assessed against a transparent framework that considers community impact, service and commitment, leadership and initiative, community wellbeing, and the overall significance of the nominee's contribution.

"There is no shortage of people doing extraordinary things in our community. We encourage everyone to take a few moments to nominate someone whose dedication deserves to be recognised."

Nominations close on Monday October 5, 2026, with recipients to be recognised by the Cambridge Community Board later this year.
