Join these free online workshops and learn practical skills to repair your clothes at home. With years of sewing experience, Sarah Sew Love will guide you through simple techniques to help you mend and extend the life of your favourite garments.
Bring an item to repair during the session or simply watch, learn and ask questions along the way. The workshops are interactive, giving you the opportunity to receive guidance and troubleshoot repairs in real time.
Each workshop focuses on a different repair technique:
Workshop One – Holey Woolies: 6pm Tuesday, September 1
Learn how to repair holes in knitted clothing using simple darning and hand-sewing techniques on items like activewear, merino thermals, jerseys and socks, and discover how to use a citrus fruit as a handy darning tool.
Workshop Two – Rips & Tears: 6pm Tuesday, September 8
Learn how to repair rips and tears in woven garments using techniques including sewing machine based repairs, machine darning, patching, decorative appliqué and traditional sashiko stitching.
Workshop Three – Hemlines & Buttons: 6pm Tuesday, September 15
Learn how to make simple clothing repairs, including hemming trousers and skirts and sewing buttons back on. The workshop will cover both machine and hand-sewing techniques, so you can fix your clothes at home even without a sewing machine.
Workshops are suitable for all ages and experience levels. After registering for a workshop, you'll receive a Zoom link before each session, along with a recording afterwards so you can revisit the techniques whenever you need them.
