Cambridge Superloo to re-open
21 March 2017
Cambridge's superloo is to reopen.
At a Service Delivery Committee meeting today, Waipa District councillors asked for the facility to be reopened by the end of April, in time for the World Masters Games.
Cambridge's superloo was closed prior to Christmas, following a recommendation from the Cambridge Community Board. The decision followed a drop in patronage following the opening of the Cambridge section of the Waikato Expressway. Two toilets at the facility remained open, 24-hours a day at no charge.
Counters on those toilets over the past few months have shown an increasing demand for the toilets.
Today's meeting instructed staff to make minor health and safety improvements to the toilets and reopen them for daylight hours (10 hours a day). They will not be open at night and will not be staffed. There will be no charge to use the toilets.
The showers at the facility will be available for use via a token system managed by the Cambridge i-Site. There will also be access to the disabled toilet.
The superloo will also be opened during next week's Maadi Cup event at Lake Karāpiro and during the Dragon Boat racing event also coming up before it reopens permanently.
