Council update on way
29 February 2016
Waipa's community will be updated in April on how the Council is tracking against its 10-Year Plan.
A short booklet summarising changes proposed for the 2016/2017 year will be circulated with local newspapers and will be online at www.futurewaipa.co.nz from mid-April.
Mayor Jim Mylchreest said the consultation programme would be low-key and would act as a report card for how Council was tracking. He noted many of the proposed changes were good news and predicted they would not attract a lot of debate.
We'll be advising that our proposed rates will be lower than expected and that debt will also be lower than what was forecast. I wouldn't expect to see too many people arguing against either of those things, he said.
There will also be some adjustments in relation to capital expenditure and timing so it will be helpful to keep the community up to speed with where those projects are at.
Consultation on the proposed changes will begin in mid-April and go for a month. Council will discuss submissions in early June with the 2016/17 Annual Plan to be formally approved at the end that month.
