Creative funding available
25 August 2015
Waipa's creative community is being encouraged to apply for around $23,000 in funding ring-fenced to support arts events and projects in the district.
The funding is provided by Creative NZ via its Creative Communities Scheme and is given to the council to administer each year.
Last year recipients in Te Awamutu and Kihikihi included Kihikihi School, Te Awamutu Little Theatre, local wood-turners and a kapa haka festival. In Cambridge, recipients included the Community Arts Council, Mosaic Modern Choir and support for a flax weaving workshop.
The criteria for support is broad and can cover materials for arts activities and programmes, venue or equipment hire, personnel and administrative costs for short-term projects and the promotion of arts activities.
Applications for funding are open now and close at the end of September. Grants are allocated by a committee including local community arts council members and people with arts experience.
Information on eligibility, along with application forms can be found here: www.waipadc.govt.nz/creativecommunities.
