4 August 2015A new road name was decided today for a section of Forrest Road in Hautapu.
The section of Forrest Road north of the Expressway and south of Hautapu Road will change to Hana Lane from September 1. Three other roads in the area have already been given new names that came in to effect on July 1. The roads were renamed after being divided by the Cambridge section of the Waikato Expressway.
Hana Lane was initially named Tiaki Place. But some residents felt the name did not represent the area and were given the opportunity to agree a new name. Hana' in te reo Maori means to shine'. Hana Lane was the name agreed by Council at today's Strategic Planning and Policy Committee meeting after residents unanimously made the recommendation.
Final changes for the Hautapu area are as follows:
Forrest Road
- The section north of the Expressway and north of Hautapu Road changed to Broadmeadows Place from July 1.
- The section north of the Expressway and south of Hautapu Road will change to Hana Lane from September 1.
- The section south of the Expressway remains Forrest Road.
Hannon Road
- The section north of Expressway remains Hannon Road.
- The section south of the Expressway changed to Abergeldie Way from July 1.
- The private road at 51 Hannon was named Hunter Lane from July 1.
Watkins Road
- The section north of the Expressway changed to Wells Place from July 1.
- The section south of the Expressway remains Watkins Road.
New signs for Hana Lane will be in place from September 1 and NZ Post and emergency services have been notified of the changes.
