Free bus to Cambridge kite day
17 March 2016
Waipa residents are being encouraged to attend a new sky festival event in Cambridge.
Fly High Waipa, organised by Waipa District Council, began as Kite Day some years ago. This year a much larger event, incorporating a broader range of flight-based activities will be held as part of Cambridge's annual Autumn Festival. It will be held during the afternoon of Sunday April 10 at the Hautapu sports grounds.
A free bus to Fly High Waipa will leave the Te Awamutu i-Site at 12.30pm, returning at 4.30pm. Those wanting a ride, including those taking their own kites, are being asked to register by emailing events@waipadc.govt.nz.
Activities at the free event include demonstrations from professional kite-flyers, face painting, model aircraft displays, rotor-cross demonstrations and entertainment. Peter Foulkes, who last year rode his kite bike to a world speed record of 95.6km/h will also be there.
The event is supported by Sport Waikato whose Energizer Team will be hosting activities. Food and drinks will be available for sale.
