Heritage fund helps diverse group
8 June 2016
Waipa's unique environment, culture and historical heritage has a funding boost available for June.
The Heritage Fund, administered by Waipa District Council's Heritage Committee, has $70,000 put aside annually. The funds are available to help supporters of significant buildings, objects natural, cultural and archaeological sites within the district to be protected and restored for future communities.
The funds may also be used to assist with obtaining specialist advice but cannot be used for one-off events or the design, build or renovation of historic replicas.
During the last funding round a heritage house, reserves and streams, church hall, theatre hall and a school house were granted funding, which shows the diversity the fund can cover.
This round closes June 30 with information available of Waipa District Council's website www.waipadc.govt.nz/heritagefund.
