Leave your leaves for Council
14 May 2015Council will be keeping Cambridge tidy through the Autumn season and are asking residents to play their part.
Daily leaf collections in problem areas started last week in Cambridge, Te Awamutu and Kihikihi and will continue for 12 weeks during the leaf fall.
Council's road corridor manager Koos Lelieveld says Council takes pride in keeping the towns maintained to a high standard and clearing the leaves helps to keep drains unblocked, and road sides tidy.
Our contractors are collecting leaves in 60 streets per week and we really appreciate it when residents assist us by piling the leaves on to the road verge before the collection truck comes. This makes the job easier and we can collect more this way, said Mr Lelieveld.
Letters are being delivered to residents who receive the service, asking for their assistance with piling up the leaves prior to pick up.
There is a leaf collection tool available at www.waipadc.govt.nz/leaf which residents can use to check their leaf pick up day, and can also tell Council about any problem streets that need to be serviced.
Weather can sometimes cause delays to the leaf collection service, but residents can be kept informed of any disruptions via Council's facebook page. In most situations, the collection will only be delayed by a day or two.
